Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) staff will be placing live traps in some Hamilton Conservation Authority properties over the next three weeks as a part of their Trap-Vaccinate-Release (TVR) program in Hamilton and southwest Burlington. Raccoons and skunks will be humanely live-trapped, receive an injection of rabies vaccine, and released back at site of capture. Vaccinating wildlife breaks the spread of infection between animals and disrupts the natural spread of the rabies virus.
The areas where the live traps will be placed are Tiffany Falls, Dundas Valley, Borer’s Falls and Iroquoia Heights Conservation Area. Should you happen to come across of the live traps, please leave them undisturbed. Traps will be checked daily by MNRF staff.
